Last summer I took a trip out to San Diego and got to meet up with my friend Ruthann on the beach for a few hours. While we watched the waves and ate our Cheez-its (take me back plz), we had a great chat about life and God and of course, boys. I remember her saying, “There’s not really anyone that I like right now… I mean there’s someone that I COULD like but…” Fast forward to October when that very same someone traveled with Ruthie and some other friends to a retreat in the mountains of Colorado. Late on the last night of the weekend, Benji officially asked Ruthie out! And the rest, as they say, is history, including a cross-country move to Pennsylvania where their beautiful wedding was held. In the last several years of knowing Ruthann, I’ve loved her sweet and genuine spirit, her prayerful heart, and her incredible eye for beauty and creativity. This was all reflected in her wedding day which sparkled with joy, hints of gold, and lovely sage green.
The night before the wedding, southeastern PA was hit hard with a big rainstorm – the outdoor rehearsal got *completely* rained out! As you can imagine we all were on the edge of our seats to see how the weather on the wedding day would be. I woke up early that morning and the sky was blue – and the entire day as absolutely perfect. A true gift from God! I keep scrolling through these pictures because the day was so special. I hope they give you a little glimpse of that as well!

Ruthie and her bridesmaids all made their own bouquets the morning of the wedding! I was so impressed at their ability to whip up these beauties!

One of my favorite parts of this day was how Ruthann so thoughtfully planned everything out, down to the first look with her bridesmaids, sisters and mom. What a sweet moment! I love all of their facial expressions here!

Little Everett stole the show. What a sweetheart!

My assistant Josiah did an amazing job photographing the guys getting ready…

I don’t know Benji well but he is a kind man who has a huge heart for Ruthann. It was so sweet to see him care for her throughout the day!

A few outdoor portraits before the ceremony. Such beauty!

Family photos are always a fun adventure – especially when there are this many cute kiddos! The flower girls were triplets (if you couldn’t tell! ;)) and all of Benji and Ruthie’s family were lovely to work with.

My favorite part of the ceremony was when the wedding party surrounded Benji and Ruthann and sang a blessing over them. I think that’s such a great way to start a marriage!

Weeks before the wedding as Ruthann and I would Marco-Polo about her plans, she would mention driving around to find the perfect place for portraits. She wanted two things: willow trees and an open field. The week of the wedding she excitedly told me that she found THE place and uh, yes, she did.

The details of the reception were absolutely stunning! Steph did an amazing job on the cake and let me tell you the lemon cupcakes were to die for, my mouth is watering just thinking about them!

The reception was full of laughs, delicious Greek food, good conversations, and coffee.

Ruthie + Benji, I love you guys and wish you all the best!
Love,
Sarah
